The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Igbokoda, Ondo State, executed a successful operation intercepting and destroying 15,775 liters of stolen crude oil in the Ilaje axis of the state.

Captain Wasuku Alushi, the Commanding Officer, estimated the value of the confiscated products at N13,251,000. The anti-Crude Oil Theft (COT) patrol team, acting in accordance with the joint task force Operation Delta Safe on COT, conducted the operation.

Commander Humphrey Nnaji, speaking on behalf of Captain Alushi, revealed that the interception followed intelligence on illegal bunkering in the area. A wooden boat, known as a “Cotonou,” loaded with crude oil, was tracked and seized about 12 nautical miles off the coast.

The crew abandoned the boat upon sighting naval personnel. The base is resolute in eradicating crude oil theft and other crimes in Igbokoda and its surroundings, promising to enhance surveillance in the region.
