The Governor, Peter Mbah of Enugu State has announced a cash award ranging from N10,000 to N25,000 for state workers effective December to April 2024.

This initiative is aimed at mitigating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal while awaiting the conclusion of new minimum wage negotiations.

During a joint news briefing with the Organized Labour leadership at the Government House, Enugu, Governor Mbah emphasized that his administration is committed to workers’ welfare and is implementing various social interventions.

He highlighted an increase in the state social register enrollment from 43,000 to 260,000 and expressed the hope that by April 2024, the committee reviewing the minimum wage would have finalized the new minimum wage for implementation.
